GORILLA TREKKING IN BWINDI FOREST
Trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on a gorilla
tour is one of the best adventure experoiences you can
gain on your Uganda Safari Holiday. Lying on the edge of
the Western Rift valley (Albertine rift), the forest
occupies different vegetation zones but predominantly a
tropical rain forest. This ancient rainforest is one of
the few remaining forests in Africa to have flourished
throughout the last Ice Age providing home to roughly
half of the world's mountain gorillas (over 340 gorillas
according to the latest estimates). Apart from the rare
mountain gorillas, the park also has over 120 other
mammalian species including 11 primates, 200 species of
butterflies and about 324 different tree species. With
these together with a birdlife comprising of 360 species
a trek through Bwindi Gorilla Forest is quite
adventerous.
To be able to enjoy a gorilla
tracking you need to buy a permit which is issued by
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA). As only 8 people per
group per day are allowed, it is necessary to book
permits as early as possible. We advise to book at least
3 months in advance to ensure that you can track on the
requested date. Gorilla trekking permits cost USD$ 500
per person but prices may increase in the future.
The Tana River White Water

Alt 1,200 - 1,100m Just 95km from Nairobi,
this "pool drop" river offers an exciting
day of White-Water thrills (and often
spills). The adventure starts with 3km. of
easy class II and III white-water, where
there is plenty of opportunity to gain and
practice the paddle skills required to run
the lower part of the river. A 6 km section
follows, and now we have an hour or more to
relax, view the abundance of birdlife
around, cool off with a swim - it's very
warm compared with rivers in the States or
Europe, (around 20C),

WHITE WATER RAFTING IN UGANDA
